Anouvong Cruise
The Anouvong is a small river cruise in Laos, and it feels very different from the Mekong trips in Vietnam or Cambodia. It’s quieter, less visited, and a bit more about the journey itself.
There are only around 20 guests on board, so it never feels busy. The rooms are comfortable, with big windows and either a balcony or small terrace nice for just sitting and watching the river go by.
On board, it’s pretty laid-back. Some people join Tai Chi in the morning, others just have coffee and enjoy the view. There’s a spa, good food, and plenty of quiet space if you just want to switch off for a few days.
The scenery is really the highlight here. You pass small villages, temples, and long stretches of untouched nature. It’s not packed with activities which is exactly why people like it.
If you’re after something slower and more low-key, this one works really well.

Ton Prai Waterfall
07:00 AM: We’ll pick you up from your Phuket hotel to kick off an exciting adventure along Phuket’s lesser-known west coast. As we journey through cultivated landscapes, we’ll make our way to Khao Lak National Park. Along the way, we’ll take a break at the stunning Ton Prai Waterfall for a short jungle trek into the heart of the National Park, where you’ll have the chance to explore a tropical rainforest and waterfall.
Khao Sok National Park
09:30 AM: Our adventure continues as we drive over the Cloud Pass, entering the breathtaking Khao Sok National Park. Located 150 kilometers north of Phuket Island, this national park sits at an elevation of 900 meters above sea level.
10:00 AM: We’ll arrive at the elephant camp nestled within a tropical rainforest and a waterfall in the National Park, where you can enjoy a two-hour elephant experience.
12:30 PM: It’s time for lunch at the Jungle Lodge in Khao Sok National Park.
1:00 PM: Following lunch, we’ll embark on a river canoeing adventure that lasts approximately two hours, allowing you to immerse yourself in the beauty of the natural surroundings along the riverside.
4:00 PM: As our adventurous day comes to an end, we’ll transport you back to Phuket Island, where you can enjoy the scenic beauty of the sunset on your way back to your hotel.
6:00 PM: Return to your hotel.

Food options were always delicious plus there was no way to ever be hungry! One of our group had dietary restrictions and there were always choices that worked. Evening entertainment was great and every night was something different. We did the Mekong River cruise so the daily excursions included time in local villages, markets, and cultural sites. We all had fun and appreciated the small ship experience.

Housekeeping twice a day with turndown service was fantastic. Dining was spectacular with buffet and menu choices, and the special dinner was magnificent. Each day the menus reflected local Mekong flavors. Service was extraordinarily good. Every evening a complimentary happy hour was offered, and the staff were always attentive. My traveling companion was gluten free and had many wonderful options at each meal. Excursions were very good, with gentle or more active tour choices and excellent local guides. This was one of the best cruise experiences I’ve ever had!

The food was delicious, the wine and drinks were abundant, and the living quarters were attractive and clean. The day excursions were divided into more difficult, regular, and easy so everyone got to select their pace. This was our first true river cruise and we enjoyed every single moment of it.

Loads of guided tours available and we visited some lovely places along the river. Very smooth journey with only slight changes due to river conditions, all handled perfectly by the crew whilst we were whisked off on an excursion. Great evening entertainment and our boat had a wonderful traditional charm throughout. Would definitely recommend.
